Reporting directly to the Field Service Manager/Lead Technician/Supervisor. This position is mainly responsible for customer related installations and service calls and added network task indicated below. This position is responsible for all tasks associated with the CATV drop and distribution cable system.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.
  • Ability to converse professionally and with empathy with an emphasis on owning and solving issues whilst building excellent rapport.
  • Must be able to use/understand Digital Multi Meter (DMM) and Signal Level Meter (SLM).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, stand, walk, and sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to crouch, kneel, balance, bend/stoop, climb, push/pull objects, and drive.
  • There will be prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and the employee must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair all problems occurring within the CATV drop system from the output of the distribution tap to all terminal points within a drop system.
  • Understand the proper operation of customer premises equipment (CPE) such as digital boxes, high speed internet modems and VOIP modems and be able to educate customers on its proper use.
  • Installation of advance services such as high-speed internet, Digital and VOIP phone service.
  • Repair sources of CATV leakage from distribution tap to CPE in customer’s home.
  • Monitor for and document CATV leakage.
  • Creates CLI leak reports and repairs leakage as required.
  • Perform Audit of questionable connections to distribution taps.
  • Performs installation of new premises wiring, disconnection of droplines and de-installation “wreckout” of droplinesystems and reconnect previous customers.
  • Perform sales of new services or upgrades of existing customers.
  • Must work safely and follow all OSHA, NEC and company safety rules and procedures.
  • Leads service techs as assigned.
  • Must be able to do Standby Calls (Outages, Callouts. Hours after regular business hours).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot from the Optical Fiber Node to Customer Premises.
  • Must be able to balance forward and return signals on the CATV system.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot CATV outages.
  • Must be able to splice actives or passives in the CATV system.
  • Must be able to do Standby Calls (Outages, Callouts. Hours after regular business hours).
  • Other duties as assigned.
