About The Position

Promontory Club is seeking a Food and Beverage Village Cafe Service Host for the Summer Seasonal period, from Mid-May to Mid-September. The Village Café is a central gathering spot located in the Ranch Clubhouse, adjacent to an outdoor heated pool and a spa. During winter, it serves espressos and smoothies, while in summer, it offers lunch items like salads, burgers, and roasted chicken. The Service Host will manage member food and beverage needs professionally and courteously, upholding Promontory Club's high standards. Top performers may have the opportunity for full-time, permanent employment after the summer season.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Must have or be able to acquire a State of Utah Food Handler's Permit within two weeks of employment.
  • Must have a recognized alcohol server training card by the Utah Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control (UDABC).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age for serving alcoholic beverages (UDABC).
  • Two (2) years of previous experience working as a supervisor in a casual restaurant environment is preferred.
  • A broad background in casual dining is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and POS software (Northstar) is preferred.
  • Must have strong communication and organization skills.
  • Must have a high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Must be willing to work various hours, nights, holidays, and weekends when needed.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25lbs regularly and the ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally.
  • Must be willing to work at any F&B outlet when required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely opening and closing of pool and restaurant facilities and conducts opening and closing protocols.
  • Addresses member and coworker inquiries and resolves issues in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Directs a staff of 8 or more on a daily basis.
  • Assists in server duties when needed, taking food and beverage orders, making suggestions, and explaining menu choices.
  • Delivers prepared food and beverages to guests, ensuring satisfaction with meal quality.
  • Maintains a cheerful and friendly disposition with members and co-workers.
  • Interacts with members and staff at a professional level.
  • Displays and promotes creative ideas for daily operations.
  • Adapts to new protocols and training, and devises and implements them for a newly opening location.
  • Maintains a clean and neat professional appearance and attitude.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and enforces company policies.
  • Assists with hiring and training of pool and café staff.
  • Assists with scheduling of pool and café staff for the Village Café, Village Pool, Adult Lap Pool, and Adventure slide.
  • Handles disciplinary actions for staff according to Promontory standards.
  • Completes opening, mid-day, and closing duties checklists.
  • Develops and maintains friendly relationships with club members and guests.
  • Maintains a positive and safe environment for all members, guests, and staff.
  • Observes and patrols pools and enforces safety regulations.
  • Provides excellent service consistent with Promontory Club standards, operating procedures, and brand attributes.
  • Maintains cleanliness of pool decks and facilities, including straightening chairs, dispersing clean towels, collecting soiled towels, and collecting trash.
  • Answers guest inquiries by being knowledgeable of club facilities and services.
  • Maintains knowledge of the pool facility as trained by supervisor.
  • Maintains a safe environment at the water slide.
  • Knows poolside food service hours of operation and is familiar with the menu.
  • Assists café staff by clearing tables and dropping orders when requested.
  • Keeps chairs clear of soiled towels, oils, and sunscreens.
  • Takes ownership of guest requests and complaints, resolves issues immediately, and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Identifies and reports defects throughout the pool and spa area, notifying supervisors and concerned departments of hazards, injuries, equipment, or processes that negatively affect operations.
  • Ensures swimming pool areas are clean at all times and reports maintenance issues to supervisor.
  • Enforces all club rules.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure a positive member/guest experience.
  • Utilizes performance feedback, recognition, training, and adheres to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Returns lost and found equipment to the Concierge desk.
  • Follows all company safety and security policies and procedures; reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe work practices to management; completes safety training and certifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to ensure a positive and satisfactory dining experience for the guest.
