About The Position

Valmet is seeking a customer-focused Field Service Expert and Team Player for its Automation Business line, specifically within the Carolina area serving the pulp and paper and power generation industries. As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing preventive and predictive maintenance on Valmet QCS and DCS equipment at various customer sites. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work confidently across all organizational levels, and a commitment to ensuring equipment performs and is utilized as expected through customer training and interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Chemical or Paper engineering with relevant experience.
  • Instrumentation and controls background.
  • Understanding of Cyber Security fundamentals.
  • Good understanding of Virtual System.
  • Experience in a QCS/DCS/Quality support role.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows and networking.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use tools appropriately and in a safe manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventive and predictive maintenance on Valmet QCS and DCS equipment.
  • Perform system upgrades as needed.
  • Update control logic as needed.
  • Perform sensor correlations.
  • Perform controls tuning.
  • Perform preventive and remedial maintenance.
  • Provide remote phone and internet support to customers.
  • Generate reports after each customer visit.
  • Conduct customer update meetings.
  • Provide constant customer training and interactions with operations.
