About The Position

Valmet is seeking a customer-focused Field Service Expert and Team Player for its Automation Business line, specifically within the Carolina area serving the pulp and paper industry as well as power generation. As a Service Engineer, you will work at multiple customer sites, providing preventive and predictive maintenance on Valmet QCS and DCS equipment. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work confidently at all organizational levels, and attention to detail. The position is primarily located in the Columbia, SC area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Chemical or Paper engineering with relevant experience.
  • Instrumentation and controls background.
  • Understanding of Cyber Security fundamentals.
  • Good understanding of Virtual System.
  • Experience in a QCS/DCS/Quality support role.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows and networking.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use tools appropriately and in a safe manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventive and predictive maintenance on Valmet QCS and DCS equipment.
  • Perform system upgrades as needed.
  • Update control logic as needed.
  • Perform sensor correlations.
  • Perform controls tuning.
  • Conduct preventive and remedial maintenance.
  • Provide remote phone and internet support to customers.
  • Generate reports after each customer visit.
  • Conduct customer update meetings.
  • Provide ongoing customer training and interact with operations to ensure equipment is performing and utilized as expected.
