About The Position

The Service Engineer Apprentice participates in training and development to learn how to repair, install, and move DMG MORI machines. The role completes classroom, factory, and online training and shadows Service Engineers on customer-site service calls, learning through observation and assisting with the work. Apprentices must hold a current passport and be able to travel internationally for training. Progression is competency-based; participants are enrolled in the two-year apprentice program before certification and promotion to Service Engineer. The position is based in Arizona, reports to the Regional Service Manager, follows Monday through Friday core business hours, and requires 75% travel. Employment is conditioned on DMG MORI's ability to obtain and maintain any necessary export licensing. The position is non-exempt, with a stated salary of $55,000.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, or electronic aptitude.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and social skills to complete assignments in stressful situations.
• Ability to communicate professionally and build positive customer relationships.
• Verbal communication skills to work effectively with internal technical staff at varying levels and with customers.
• Time-management skills to plan work and travel schedules and minimize downtime or nonproductive time.
• Adaptability to abrupt changes in work schedules and travel arrangements.
• Proven writing skills and discipline to complete technical documents and reports in a timely manner.
• Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally to customer locations and trade shows.
• Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions correctly.
• Must hold a current passport.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in CNC manufacturing, maintenance, or a related field.
• Journeyman certificate.
• Machine or manufacturing maintenance experience, including military maintenance training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete classroom, factory, and online classes and achieve scores of 80% or higher.
• Shadow Service Engineers on service calls, traveling with them to customer sites.
• Learn through observation while assisting Service Engineers during service calls.
• Attend international training as required; maintain a current passport and ability to travel internationally for periods of time.
• Progress through the competency-based apprentice program toward certification and promotion to Service Engineer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
