About The Position

The Service Department at Chastang Ford is growing and we need more great people for our amazing team. Our service Porters are often the Face of the Service Department and play one of the most critical roles in the dealership. The Service Porter is an hourly employee who greets customers, transports customers and vehicles from home or business locations to the shop, and keeps the lot and shop orderly and clean. Service Porter is an hourly non-exempt/salaried exempt position that reports to the Assistant Shop Foreman. The Service Porter assists the Assistant Shop Foreman in keeping ensuring a safe and clean work environment. We should make sure that while their vehicle is in our shop, we are careful to maintain the integrity of that vehicle. Make sure that doors are locked, windows rolled up, and parked in a secure area. Ensure the parking lot remains organized Assist technicians with parking and bringing vehicles in for service. Ensure vehicles on the service drive are parked in a prompt manner. Bring vehicles from the parking lot to the service drive for customer delivery. Assist with pick-up and delivery of customer vehicles to and from the facility Ensure the shop and parking lot remain clean WORKING CONDITIONS: The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and organized individual. They will be able to work well in a family atmosphere and will take great pride in producing outstanding results and unparalleled quality with a sense of urgency

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Skill and ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Be able to perform in a calm manner when under pressure
  • Ability to effectively establish rapport, present information, and respond to questions from managers and team members
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Excellent oral communication skills are required
  • Must be able to operate a forklift

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers
  • Transports customers and vehicles from home or business locations to the shop
  • Keeps the lot and shop orderly and clean
  • Assists the Assistant Shop Foreman in ensuring a safe and clean work environment
  • Maintains the integrity of customer vehicles while in the shop (e.g., ensures doors are locked, windows rolled up, parked in a secure area)
  • Ensures the parking lot remains organized
  • Assists technicians with parking and bringing vehicles in for service
  • Ensures vehicles on the service drive are parked in a prompt manner
  • Brings vehicles from the parking lot to the service drive for customer delivery
  • Assists with pick-up and delivery of customer vehicles to and from the facility
  • Ensures the shop and parking lot remain clean
