This role may involve opening or closing the Service Desk depending on the shift, answering incoming calls, and making pages over the intercom. The associate will also complete transactions such as lottery, bill pay, and Western Union, while adhering to company and legal regulations, including those for tobacco and alcohol sales. Responsibilities include performing refunds or exchanges according to company policy, communicating customer concerns to appropriate managers, and maintaining a clean and organized desk area. The role also involves operating front-end scanning equipment and registers, handling all check-out procedures including bagging merchandise, and managing various forms of tender. Maintaining proper security measures and cash drawer accounting is crucial, as is staying knowledgeable about store layout, weekly ads, specials, and promotions to assist customers and generate sales through suggestive selling. Cooperation with co-workers and supervisors is essential for the smooth function of the department and store, with a focus on continuous job performance improvement. Additional duties may be assigned by management.
