About The Position

The Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is seeking a Service Coordinator for its Senior Services Department. This role involves providing case management, service coordination, and advocacy to consumers with and without sensory loss across Alabama. The Service Coordinator will assess consumer needs, develop service plans, coordinate referrals, conduct home visits, and connect individuals with AIDB programs and community resources. Responsibilities also include supporting the Supportive Housing Program, maintaining accurate case records, conducting statewide outreach and educational presentations, building community partnerships, monitoring program outcomes, and collaborating with internal teams and external agencies to improve service delivery. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive professional with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, comfortable with travel throughout Alabama and conducting home visits. A commitment to exceptional customer service and continuous learning is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, or human services field.
  • Documented work experience in providing public speaking, presentations, or in-service training.
  • Demonstrated experience with computers and software programs including Google G Suite, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to project empathy, patience, and compassion through personal communication.
  • Ability to work with the public in a pleasant and effective manner while maintaining positive working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management, service coordination, and advocacy to consumers with and without sensory loss across Alabama.
  • Assess consumer needs and develop individualized service plans.
  • Coordinate referrals, conduct home visits, and connect individuals with AIDB programs and community resources.
  • Support the Supportive Housing Program, including participant outreach, referrals, enrollment, and ongoing case management.
  • Maintain accurate case records and consumer documentation in DISCO.
  • Conduct statewide outreach and educational presentations.
  • Build community partnerships and represent AIDB at various community events.
  • Monitor program outcomes and collaborate with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Collect, maintain, and report program data; prepare reports supporting quality improvement and program planning.
  • Assist with statewide initiatives, outreach campaigns, and special projects.
  • Participate in interagency meetings to strengthen referral networks.
  • Maintain current knowledge of community resources and aging services.
  • Achieve SURVIVAL level of sign language proficiency within thirty (30) months of employment.
