Timken Power Systems, Philadelphia Gear brand has a current opening for a Service Center Engineer responsible for all technical aspects that support the operations of the regional service center and acts as a technical liaison to the Philadelphia Gear corporate engineering department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in design or manufacturing engineering, 4 years preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Design or Mechanical Engineering require
  • Experience with mechanical power transmission and gear drives
  • Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft 365/ Office Suite software
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of fluid film and rolling element bearings, gear design, and vibration analysis is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Implement customer requirements for the repair, modification, or upgrade of customer's equipment
  • Evaluate the condition of equipment and determine which components are re-usable, repairable, or must be replaced
  • Perform failure analysis and create technical reports for customers
  • Define the scope of work needed to return equipment back to full working condition
  • Measure and reverse engineer non-PG components
  • Provide calculations for manufacture of new gears or repair of existing gears
  • Design, specify, and create detail drawings of components
  • Build job travelers that lay out the order of operations and describe the work needed to carry out the repairs or modifications of gears, components and equipment
  • Assist in technical training of shop personnel
  • Provide technical support to suppliers, customers, field service, and customer service
