About The Position

The Service Buyer supports CIMCO’s National Parts Centre by sourcing, purchasing, and expediting parts and materials required by refrigeration mechanics, engineers, and sales teams across North America. This fast‑paced role combines buyer responsibilities with technical support, ensuring accurate pricing, lead times, and product information. The Service Buyer works directly with vendors, manages purchase orders, resolves part‑related issues, and maintains strong internal service levels within the NPC. The Service Buyer plays a key role in CIMCO’s National Parts Centre (NPC), functioning as a Buyer, Expediter, and technical resource for internal staff. This position ensures that mechanics, engineers, and sales representatives receive timely, accurate information on pricing, availability, and delivery of parts and materials. The Service Buyer manages vendor relationships, issues purchase orders, tracks shipments, and troubleshoots part‑related issues to keep service operations running smoothly across North America.

Requirements

  • Industrial buying experience in a technical or mechanical environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude or strong industrial/technical understanding (highly preferred).
  • High accuracy and attention to detail, especially in quoting and order entry.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with mechanics, engineers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Post‑secondary education preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast, accurate pricing and delivery quotations to refrigeration mechanics, engineers, and sales teams via phone, email, fax, or SAP.
  • Verify stock levels using SAP and confirm availability with preferred vendors.
  • Use industry resources to identify parts, cross‑reference components, and locate alternative solutions when needed.
  • Identify potential suppliers, request information, negotiate pricing, and maintain strong vendor relationships across North America.
  • Issue purchase orders, expedite shipments, track deliveries, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Troubleshoot technical part problems, provide alternate options, and ensure internal customers receive accurate solutions.
  • Collaborate with NPC staff, service teams, and engineering to maintain service continuity and meet operational needs.
