Service Assistant, Cafe Ginori
About The Position
The Service Assistant (described in the posting as a Busser) supports dining service at Cafe Ginori, Bergdorf Goodman’s luxury Italian café. The role helps deliver an exceptional dining experience by keeping the dining room impeccably maintained, clearing and resetting tables promptly, and supporting seamless, efficient service while upholding high standards of hospitality and presentation. The position works with servers and captains, maintains dining-room and service-station cleanliness, handles and polishes china, glassware, and silverware including Ginori porcelain, and assists with opening, closing, setup, breakdown, and sanitation. The role follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines in compliance with NYC regulations and requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak retail hours. Employees may need to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Clear and reset tables promptly and discreetly between guests while maintaining a pristine dining environment.
- Assist servers and captains to support smooth and efficient service during all meal periods.
- Refill water, bread, and other table items as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, service stations, and back-of-house areas.
- Properly handle and polish china, glassware, and silverware, including Ginori porcelain.
- Support opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and sanitation.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines in compliance with NYC regulations.
- Anticipate guest and team needs in a fast-paced, high-end service environment.
