Service Assistant, Cafe Ginori
About The Position
The Service Assistant supports dining service at Cafe Ginori, Bergdorf Goodman’s luxury Italian café. The role helps deliver an exceptional dining experience by keeping the dining room impeccably maintained, clearing and resetting tables promptly, and supporting seamless, efficient service. The position requires attention to hospitality, presentation, cleanliness, and teamwork in a fast-paced, high-end environment. The Service Assistant assists servers and captains, refills water, bread, and other table items, and maintains dining room, service-station, and back-of-house cleanliness. Duties also include handling and polishing china, glassware, silverware, and Ginori porcelain; completing opening and closing tasks; and following health, safety, and sanitation requirements in compliance with NYC regulations.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak retail hours.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred; luxury or fine dining experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Clear and reset tables promptly and discreetly between guests.
- Assist servers and captains to support smooth, efficient service during meal periods.
- Refill water, bread, and other table items as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining room, service stations, and back-of-house areas.
- Properly handle and polish china, glassware, and silverware, including Ginori porcelain.
- Support opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and sanitation.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines in compliance with NYC regulations.
- Anticipate guest and team needs in a fast-paced, high-end service environment.
