About The Position

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service. Assists residents when placing orders from the menu, provides beverage service, refills salt/pepper/sugar bowls, and reports any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor. The role requires a basic understanding of food preparation, knowledge of proper food storage and labeling, and the ability to sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room. The Server must attend required in-services and staff meetings and complete all other assigned duties. Additionally, the Server must be attentive to the special needs of residents, including those with mobility deficits or memory impairment, and assist with tray service. Confidentiality policies regarding resident information must be followed, and interactions with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors must be polite and considerate.

Requirements

  • Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
  • Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
  • Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Serve resident and guest meals courteously.
  • Clean and reset the dining room following meal service.
  • Assist residents with menu orders.
  • Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk, coffee/tea).
  • Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls before and after each meal.
  • Report broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
  • Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
  • Have a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.).
  • Apply knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Complete all other assigned duties.
  • Be attentive to special needs of residents (e.g., mobility deficits, memory impairment).
  • Assist with tray service.
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
  • Interact politely and considerately with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
