About The Position

The Server role at IHG is responsible for providing True Hospitality to guests by delivering food and beverage service in an established service style and standard. This position promotes the image of the restaurant through impeccable manners, diplomacy, and tact. The Server will maintain constant communication with the team, recommend specials and beverages in an upselling manner, and answer guest questions. They will relay orders to the kitchen, monitor guests for additional requests, and maintain side station supplies. Additionally, the Server will assist the Hostess with greeting and seating guests, maintain polite and courteous communication, and report any difficulties or guest comments to management. Responsibilities include setting and clearing tables, folding linen napkins, collecting food and beverage orders, and returning used items to the dishwashing area. The Server will also follow procedures for cash handling, bill presentation, and closing bills correctly in Micros. Performing duties from the daily tasks and cleaning schedule, complying with workplace health and safety requirements, and attending daily briefings and training sessions are also key aspects of this role. The Server will establish and maintain effective employee working relationships and implement hotel and department regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak and understand English.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Food Hygiene awareness and at least basic training.
  • Ability to communicate in English with guest.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to provide legible written communication.
  • Must be TIPS Certified prior to or after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Serves food and beverage to guests in established service style and standard.
  • Promotes image of the restaurant by displaying impeccable manners, diplomacy and tact towards guests.
  • Maintains constant flow of communication with and to the team.
  • Recommends specials, meals, appetizers, and/or beverages to the guests in an upselling manner and answers any questions.
  • Relays orders to kitchen following established procedures.
  • Monitors guests to fulfill additional requests.
  • Maintains supplies of China, Cutlery and Condiments for side station; keeping station clean and orderly.
  • Assists Hostess in guests service greeting and seating.
  • Communicates politely and display courtesy to guests.
  • Communicates to his/her manager any difficulties, guest comment and other relevant information.
  • Sets and clears tables ensuring standards are met.
  • Folds linen napkins prior to and after each shift.
  • Collects Food & Beverage orders from the kitchen, returns used china, glass and silver to the dishwashing area.
  • Follows the procedures on Cash handling and Bill presentation; including audit and closing all bills correctly in Micros and depositing cashier envelop(s) to the Front Desk drop safe.
  • Prepares and presents Bills according to hotel standard, closing Bill immediately on computer.
  • Performs duties noted on the daily tasks & cleaning schedule.
  • Complies with all workplace health and safety requirements, including any department specific training regarding equipment and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective employee working relationships.
  • Attends and participates in daily briefings and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Attends and participates in training sessions as scheduled.
  • Implements the hotel and department regulations, policies and procedures including but not limited to: House Rules and Regulation, Health and Safety, Grooming, Quality, Service, Hygiene and Cleanliness.
  • Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
