About The Position

The position requires performing the following essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. The Server is responsible for the service of food and/or beverage to guests, including order taking and delivery, in accordance with Hilton Brand Standards and AAA Standards. This role demands a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional approach to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. The Server will also perform general cleaning tasks, assist with clearing and resetting tables, perform side work, answer telephones, take room service orders, handle special guest requests, and greet and seat guests according to Hilton guidelines. A key aspect of the role is to be directly responsible for delivering service to guests after seating, warmly welcoming them within 30 seconds to 1 minute, taking, placing, delivering, and serving food and beverage orders, ensuring quality of ingredients, preparation, presentation, and correct temperature of food. The Server must also ensure time standards are met, employ appropriate selling skills, and demonstrate an attitude of friendly hospitality. Additionally, the Server must attend required meetings, assimilate into the Hilton Family Pride/Care culture, and maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. The hospitality business operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times. Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explain and record orders.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 40 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.
  • Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and learn point of sale procedures to pre-check order and close out the check.
  • Must obtain any government required licenses or certificates.
  • RAMP certification within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six (6) months to one-year previous serving experience.
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred.
  • ServSafe is a plus or training related to HACCP.

Responsibilities

  • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
  • Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials and/or restaurant promotions for guest awareness.
  • Record the details of the order from the guests, repeating the order to the guest to check for accuracy.
  • Input the order into the point-of-sale computer to inform the kitchen of the particulars in the order being placed.
  • When complete, retrieve order from kitchen, confirm its accuracy, lift and deliver to guest along with appropriate condiments. Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
  • Market and serve upon request any dessert items or specialty coffees.
  • Ascertain guest satisfaction and present check. Process check per hotel procedures.
  • Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
  • Supplement the bus help in clearing and resetting the tables.
  • Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking side stands.
  • Perform other duties as requested, such as answering telephones and taking room service orders, handle special guest requests, and greet and seat guests according to Hilton guidelines.
  • Be the person directly responsible for delivery of service to guests after seating. Warmly welcome guests within 30 seconds - 1 minute after seating. Take, place, deliver and serve food & beverage orders. Ensure quality of ingredients, preparation, presentation and correct temperature of food served to guests. Ensure time standards are met. Employ appropriate selling skills in suggestions of food & beverage. Demonstrate an attitude of friendly hospitality in every aspect.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Assimilate into the Hilton Family Pride/Care culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of Pride/Care. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hilton from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
