About The Position

Perform wait staff duties during meal times, including greeting guests, taking orders, communicating with cooks, delivering food, and assisting residents and guests with dining needs. This role also involves clearing and cleaning tables, preparing condiments, performing dishwashing and cleaning procedures, and maintaining a pleasant dining environment. The position requires adherence to safety regulations, infection control policies, and Universal Precautions. Additional duties include assisting in maintaining service areas, disposing of food and waste properly, documenting food and equipment temperatures, labeling and storing food items, maintaining personal hygiene, and attending in-service training.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interpret and explain the menu, refer, or answer questions, coordinate the meals service process and understand requests.
  • Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers card, if 18 years of age or older must obtain an OLCC card.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the elderly population and be sensitive to the individual needs of the residents at the IL.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a timely manner consistent with the needs of the residents, dining room standards, and assigned task schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • No prior serving experience needed.
  • Prior foodservice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wait staff duties during meal times; greet guests, offer water and beverages, receive menu orders, communicate with the line cook, deliver orders and assist resident and guests with other dining needs as needed in a timely manner.
  • Clear, clean and set dining room tables as needed in a manner consistent with proper procedures to avoid cross contamination.
  • Make sure all condiments for daily special in house and to go are pre done prior to mealtime.
  • Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures as assigned and as needed.
  • Follows safety regulations at all times and follows established infection control and Universal Precautions, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a pleasant dining environment for the residents, guests and staff.
  • Assist in maintaining wait staff service area and other duties as assigned by the Dining Room Manager/ Chef/ Dining Services Director and Lead Server.
  • Disposes of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Provides documentation of food and equipment temperatures as assigned.
  • Properly labels and stores food items.
  • Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
