About The Position

The Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa is looking to fill a Server position. This role involves consistently offering professional, friendly, and engaging service to guests, assisting them with menu items, and adhering to all outlet policies, procedures, and service standards. The server will also need to have full knowledge of beverage lists, promotions, and menu items, including their garnishes, contents, and preparation methods. Safety and sanitation policies must be followed when handling food and beverages. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Previous customer service experience required
• 1-2 years server experience in a similar environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Fluent in both official languages required
• Smart Serve Certification required
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Highly responsible and reliable
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Passing grade on the written recruitment server exam
• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
• Occasional kneeling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps

Nice To Haves

• Previous point of sale system experience an asset, but not required
