About The Position

Responsible for greeting all guests in a professional, friendly and family oriented way before, during and after the meal period. This role involves taking orders, ensuring accuracy, communicating with the kitchen, managing guest satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area. Servers are expected to be team players and assist with various tasks as needed.

Requirements

Be punctual.
Wear proper uniform (black slacks, Black Bear Diner shirt, suspenders and apron) and name badge at all times.
Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times.
Have current Food Handlers' Certification.

Willingness to work overtime if needed.
Ability to be a team player and take ownership of the entire restaurant.

Responsibilities

Greet all guests in a professional, friendly, and family-oriented way.
Approach tables within two minutes of seating, greet guests, and introduce yourself.
Offer beverages and announce daily specials.
Take food orders, repeat them back to guests for accuracy, and communicate any out-of-stock items.
Enter orders into the Aloha system, ensuring all modifications are included.
Communicate with the kitchen expeditor or manager for special requests or modifications.
Check back with guests after orders have been placed to offer beverage refills.
Inform guests of any kitchen delays and keep them updated.
Maintain a cheerful and positive attitude at all times.
Adhere to the 'clean as you go' policy and keep all working areas clean and organized.
Report equipment failures and supply shortages to management immediately.
Take breaks on time and return to workstations promptly.
Double-check guest checks before presenting them to guests.
Ensure all voids, wrong orders, or guest changes of mind are approved by a manager.
Assist with food runs as needed.
Communicate station transitions immediately to management.
Refill sugar caddies, re-stock sauces, ketchup, mustards, and refill salt & pepper shakers.
Complete all side work before punching out.
