About The Position

The Hive Taphouse is looking for a Server to join their team. This role involves greeting guests, presenting menus, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring a positive guest experience. The position requires knowledge of legal drinking age and responsible alcohol service. Servers also assist colleagues and perform side duties to maintain service standards.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one month related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Complete knowledge of legal drinking age and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the effects of alcohol on the body and its ability to impair mental/physical abilities.
  • Ability to use good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages.

Responsibilities

  • Greets guests, presents menus, explains specials, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food, beverage, and wagering.
  • Takes guest orders and places them using the POS System.
  • Serves courses from the kitchen and service bars.
  • Garnishes and decorates dishes.
  • Observes guests to respond to additional requests and to determine when a meal is completed.
  • Totals bills, presents checks, accepts payment, and makes change.
  • Performs services such as ladling soup, making salads, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
  • Clears and resets counters or tables after each course.
  • Ensures knowledge of legal drinking age and procedures.
  • Checks for acceptable identification for guests who appear to be under 30 years of age and are attempting to consume or purchase alcoholic beverages.
  • Uses good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages, understanding the effects of alcohol.
  • Performs service duties for other servers by picking up their orders and delivering them.
  • Checks other tables and provides assistance as needed.
  • Works shifts up to 8 hours or longer, if needed.
  • Performs side duties including rolling silverware, cleaning trays, restocking items, filling ice bins, set up, cleaning, breaking down server areas, using cleaning compounds, and making coffee.
  • Promotes superior guest service.
