About The Position

The Server position is responsible for performing wait staff duties during meal times, including greeting guests, taking orders, delivering food, and assisting residents and guests with their dining needs. This role also involves maintaining cleanliness of the dining area, performing dishwashing duties, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols. The Server contributes to a pleasant dining environment and assists with various assigned tasks to support the kitchen and dining operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interpret and explain the menu, refer or answer questions, coordinate the meals service process, and understand requests.
  • Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with, and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers card.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the elderly population and be sensitive to the individual needs of the residents.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a timely manner consistent with the needs of the residents, dining room standards, and assigned task schedules.
  • No prior serving experience needed.
  • On-the-job training provided.

  • Prior foodservice experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wait staff duties during meal times, including greeting guests, offering water and beverages, taking menu orders, communicating with the line cook, and delivering orders.
  • Assist residents and guests with other dining needs in a timely manner.
  • Clear, clean, and set dining room tables according to proper procedures to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures as assigned and as needed.
  • Follow safety regulations, infection control, and Universal Precautions policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a pleasant dining environment for residents and guests.
  • Assist in maintaining the wait staff service area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Server or Kitchen Supervisor.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Provide documentation of food and equipment temperatures as assigned.
  • Properly label and store food items.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code.
  • Attend in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
