About The Position

The Server at La Terraza Restaurant serves food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests, sets tables according to event requirements and service standards, and answers questions about menu selections. The role coordinates with the kitchen about menu questions, wait times, recooked orders, product availability, allergies, dietary requirements, and special requests. Servers enter orders in the MICROS system, check on guests' satisfaction, maintain clean work areas and service items, complete closing duties, present accurate checks, and process guest payments according to cash-handling and credit procedures.

Responsibilities

Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests.
Set tables according to the type of event and service standards, ensuring linens, glassware, china, and silverware meet quality standards.
Answer questions about menu selections and seek clarification from kitchen staff when necessary.
Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, recook orders, product availability, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests.
Communicate with guests, employees, and other departments to ensure guest needs are met.
Follow appropriate alcohol-service procedures, including applicable TIPs or CARE procedures.
Record transactions in the MICROS system when orders are placed.
Check with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverage.
Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, following clean-as-you-go procedures.
Inspect china, glassware, and silverware for cleanliness and presentation before use.
Complete closing duties, including storing and breaking down reusable goods, cleaning equipment and areas, returning equipment to its proper location, locking refrigerators and doors, restocking, turning off lights, and completing the daily cleaning checklist.
Present an accurate physical check and process payment in accordance with cash-handling and credit policies, including gratuities.
Thank guests upon departure, invite them to return, and wish them a fond farewell.
