About The Position

Serves meal to patrons in restaurant and consistently provides professional, attentive, genuinely friendly service to members. The server has a great impact on how restaurant guests and members perceive their dining experience. A genuine friendly, attentive, knowledgeable server can help ensure that the guest is satisfied with his/her food selection and is eager to return.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; three to 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in English to customers, members, or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense to unexpected situations.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employees are expected to present a clean and neat appearance while on the job.
  • Clothing is to be kept clean and pressed.
  • Personal cleanliness is expected, including wearing deodorant, bathing and oral hygiene.
  • Excessive make-up and jewelry is not permitted.
  • Employees are expected to arrive to work on time and leave personal belongings at home or in a locker.
  • Employees should conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with members, management and other staff.

Responsibilities

  • Present menus, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
  • Records orders on check.
  • Relays order to kitchen using P.O.S system utilizing seat numbers.
  • Follow all policies for the responsible service of alcohol.
  • Requests identification from customers when legal age is questionable.
  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and determine when the meal is completed.
  • Total bill, processes and accepts payment in form of membership signature and number.
  • Moves tables/chairs, and banqueting equipment as needed for events and meal service.
  • Complete assigned “side work” (prerequisites for preparation/set up and closing).
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of his/her section a, followed by an end of shift inspection.
  • Cleans and/or resets tables at conclusion of each course.
