About The Position

Berenjak is opening in Chicago, inspired by Tehran's neighborhood kebab houses, focusing on incredible food, genuine hospitality, and bringing people together. As part of the founding team, every role is crucial in creating a restaurant where guests and staff feel cared for. The Server Captain supervises the team during service and events, ensuring effective and efficient service. They educate members and guests on menu items and allergies, providing an approachable and elevated experience according to Soho House Service Standards. This role is key to service success and guest satisfaction, involving collaboration with team members, completing pre- and post-service duties, accurate POS order entry, and attentive support during service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience and proven leader with exceptional skills to influence others on the floor.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and maintain calm, through quickly and effectively problem-solving under pressure.
  • Must be hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service and respectful towards colleagues and guests.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to take direction, work in a team environment and autonomously.
  • Tips certified and POS knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the team during service and events, positively influencing them to execute effective and efficient service.
  • Educate members and guests on all menu items, including allergies, while presenting an approachable and elevated experience following Soho House Service Standards.
  • Ensure the success of service and guest satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other team members.
  • Complete pre-service and post-service duties.
  • Accurately enter orders into the POS system.
  • Be attentive during service to support additional member or guest requests.
  • Act as an extension of the management team, supporting operations/events and staff, making decisions, and reporting on staff performance, feedback, and service review.
  • Partner with F&B leaders to ensure new team members complete onboarding checklists and servers take breaks.
  • Create systems and processes to support a more efficient and effective experience for staff and members/guests.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with coworkers and management.
  • Complete checklists on all trained processes learned in Club School.
  • Elevate the dining experience with food and drink pairing options and discussing specials to drive sales through consistent and approachable communication and the highest level of service.
  • Maintain communication and advise Management and Executive Chef on any allergies or potential red flags encountered throughout the night to mitigate any forecasted risk.
  • Complete all check out reports at the end of each shift and have them double-checked and signed by management.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, Company policies, procedures, standards, and local, state, and federal law.
  • Accommodate special requests from guests or provide alternative solutions that better suit business needs, or advise management to further assess and provide options.
  • Ensure food orders are finished being plated and coursed out correctly before serving to members/guests.
  • Assist runners and bussers with expo and service bar tickets to support all table orders.
  • Clean and stock server alley and bar area, polish silverware, plates, and/or glassware as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
