About The Position

At Soho House, a Server/Bartender is responsible for understanding, discussing, and educating members and guests on all menu items, including allergies, while presenting an approachable and elevated experience by following Soho House Service Standards. The Server/Bartender plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of service and guest satisfaction. This role also involves collaborating with other team members, completing pre-service and post-service duties, accurately entering orders into the POS system, and being attentive during service to support additional member or guest requests. A successful Server/Bartender maintains a positive and influential attitude, is detail-oriented, process-driven, and flexible while working under pressure to ensure seamless communication between Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar capacity.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and maintain calm, through quickly and effectively problem-solving under pressure.
  • Must be hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service, and respectful towards colleagues and guests.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to take direction, work in a team environment and autonomously.
  • Tips certified and POS knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with all coworkers and management as well as complete checklists on all trained processes learned in Club School.
  • Positively influence members and guests' experience by elevating the dining experience with food and drink pairing options and discussing specials to drive sales through consistent and approachable communication and the highest level of service in accordance with Soho House Standards.
  • Maintain communication and advise Management and Executive Chef on any allergies or potential red flags encountered throughout the night to mitigate any forecasted risk.
  • Complete all check out reports at the end of each shift and have it double checked and signed by management.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies as well as all Company policies, procedures, standards, and local, state, and federal law as applicable.
  • Ensure food orders are finished being plated and coursed out correctly before appropriately serving to members/guests.
  • Assist runners and bussers when possible with expo and service bar tickets to support all table orders.
  • Clean and stock server alley and bar area, polish silverware, plates and/or glassware as needed.
  • Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions when asked by members and/or guests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Follow steps of service and company guidelines for preparing cocktails, juices, coffee, and drinks used at the bar.
  • Maintain a clean and organized section as well as collaborate with other bartenders to wash glassware and utensils after each use, clean up after customers, and clean the work area.
  • Educate guests and members about beverage options learned through House Tonic trainings.
  • Discuss and describe daily specials, seasonally influenced menu items, and food pairing options to promote additional sales through creating an optimal experience for dining.
  • Collect payment on all sold items and operate a cash register.
  • Check identification of customers to make sure they meet age requirements for purchase of alcohol and tobacco products as well as determine when a customer has had too much alcohol.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays that promote specific beverage options and can increase overall sales and member/guest experience.
  • Serve customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Monitor and maintain an inventory of supplies and delegate replenishment of items to Barbacks.
  • Mix ingredients according to drink recipes to maintain a globally unified beverage program and consistent experience.
