About The Position

The Server Assistant's key duties are setting and clearing dining tables, refilling beverages, stocking service stations, delivering food orders, and assisting with maintaining cleanliness in the restaurant while continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service. This role requires performing duties to the highest standards, including preparing beverages, utilizing hospitality standards, greeting guests, pouring water, refilling drinks, picking up food from the kitchen, assisting servers during busy periods, maintaining dining area cleanliness, resetting tables, restocking supplies, cleaning side stations and equipment, and collecting/returning linens. The position also requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to conduct all responsibilities professionally and ethically with consistent attendance.

Requirements

  • No prior experience needed.
  • Good working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance are required.
  • Positive, upbeat personality/attitude.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and other team members.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outlet opening duties such as setting tables & chairs.
  • Assist restaurant servers to serve guests.
  • Prepare all beverage required for service, including coffee, iced tea and hot water.
  • Utilize essential hospitality standards at all times: speak first, smile, make eye contact, and engage in polite conversation (when time permits).
  • Greet guests after they are seated.
  • Pour water and refill water, coffee and tea cups.
  • Pick up food from kitchen and bring side stations.
  • During busy periods assist servers by serving food and beverages to guests.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of the dining area, including all tables and chairs.
  • Reset tables with fresh linens and set the table according to the meal period.
  • Restocks the dining room and side stations with tableware, flatware, utensils, condiments and linen.
  • Always maintain adequate supplies in the side station when the restaurant is open.
  • Cleaning side stations and stocking and replenishing side station supplies.
  • Cleaning the coffee urn and the bread warmer.
  • Collecting fresh linens and taking them to the restaurant / room service / banquet room.
  • Returning soiled linens to the laundry.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a changing clientele and environment.
  • Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Other duties deemed necessary by Supervisor, Manager and/or Department Director.
