About The Position

Patio del Mar is a casual, upscale al fresco bistro located at the historic Hotel Casa del Mar in Santa Monica, offering direct, front-row views of the Pacific Ocean and beach. It specializes in fresh, locally sourced seafood, including ceviche, lobster rolls, and oysters, alongside light bites, salads, and refreshing cocktails for lunch and sunset dining. This is a seasonal position from May 15, 2026 to Mid September.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare back office, ice, coffee, tea, dirty linen basket
  • Set up the patio. Sugar caddies, S&P grinders, check patio cushions for cleanliness
  • Check chairs and table for cleanliness
  • Prepare roll-ups
  • Set up dinner candles (PM)
  • Help to arrange table layout
  • Restock the requisition delivery
  • Prepare side station with BB plates, water, coffee cups, ice tea / Arnold palmer, lemonade, Juices…
  • Polish silver ware, utensils, glassware, china
  • Participate in the pre shift meeting
  • Greeting newly arrived guests
  • Set additional table settings if necessary
  • Assisting with water and soft drinks service
  • Bread stick service
  • Being able to explain specials / promotions of the day
  • Expediting the dishes in a timely manner and in order
  • Being able to explain the dishes to the guests
  • Place the dishes accordingly in front of the guest from the right, and with the “best bite forward”
  • Knowing the appropriate silverware to mark the table
  • Assisting with the coffee / tea service / re-fills throughout the meal
  • Clearing tables in appropriate fashion and using correct racks for glasses and stacking plates accordingly
  • Resetting tables
  • Replenish glasses, silver, roll-ups as necessary
  • Keeping the restaurant clean and neat at all time during service including cleaning work / side-work
  • Replenish glasses, silver and china
  • Setting tables and stations for next meal period
  • Clean up the expediting station
  • Refill fridges with water and juices
  • Cleaning up the back service area incl. coffee machine, ice tea ice bin
  • Bring linen to the dirty bin
  • Checking out with a manager before leaving the shift.
