Serology Technician
About The Position
The Serology Technician performs manual and automated ELISA testing and Western Blot testing on patient serum samples. The role includes basic preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment, assisting with troubleshooting and discrepancy resolution, supporting inventory, interpreting test results, processing serum separation when needed, and preparing in-house ELISA plates. The technician is also responsible for safe handling of materials, maintaining customer privacy, contributing as a team member, communicating information clearly and supportively, demonstrating initiative, and maintaining productive work habits and accuracy.
Requirements
- Complete 9-month Clinical Laboratory Serology Technician training.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science field.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual and automated ELISA tests on patient serum samples using the DSX Automated Processor.
- Perform Western Blot tests using the BeeBlot Machine.
- Perform preventive maintenance on the DSX, Automated Washer, Absorbance Detector, and BeeBlot Machine according to daily, weekly, monthly, and annual protocols.
- Assist with resolving discrepancies, troubleshooting results, and inventory.
- Assist with interpretation of ELISA and Western Blot test results.
- Perform and process serum separation when needed.
- Make in-house ELISA plates.
- Perform other similar or related duties as required or assigned.
- Conduct activities safely and handle materials according to safety guidelines.
- Maintain customer privacy.
- Participate as a team member and remain accountable for assigned work.
- Deliver information in a supportive, timely, and understandable manner.
- Proactively diagnose and resolve problems.
- Maintain productive work habits, accuracy, and quality.
