About The Position

The Serology Lab Technician is responsible for testing blood and other samples for viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG). This role involves setting up and running lab tests, reading and releasing test results, collecting and building samples for loading, and completing Coggins Federal forms as required by the USDA. The tests performed may be more routine and less complex. The technician will exercise judgment in evaluating and reporting results, reconcile pending and queue lists daily, and perform equipment maintenance and troubleshooting activities. A strong knowledge of lab equipment and procedures, compliance with Quality Assurance policies and protocols, and awareness of quality control and calibration are essential. Consultation with senior peers on non-complex tasks is expected for learning through experience. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments.
  • General science background.
  • Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid communication skills- written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written direction.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • 2- or 4-year degree in science-related field preferred.
  • Prior lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities
