The Sergeant is responsible for supervising, protecting, instructing, training, counseling, and evaluating employees. This role involves ensuring the care, custody, and adherence to rules and regulations for inmates/detainees/USMS in specific housing and working areas. The Sergeant will supervise and direct searches for contraband, provide security, and oversee the custody and security of inmates/detainees/USMS, including observation during activities and work duty. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating inmate/detainee/USMS records related to health, safety, and facility security, providing information to other personnel, and supervising the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports. The role also involves promoting positive social skills by modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when necessary, providing feedback to staff on social skills, procedures, and intervention techniques, and maintaining accountability for staff, inmates/detainees/USMS, and property while adhering to safety practices. Additional duties may be assigned by the Warden within the Sergeant's capabilities.
