This role involves supervising, protecting, instructing, training, counseling, and evaluating employees. The Sergeant is responsible for the care, custody, and adherence to rules and regulations of inmates/detainees/USMS. Key duties include supervising and directing searches for contraband, providing security, observing inmates/detainees/USMS during activities and work duty, and reviewing inmate/detainee/USMS records for health, safety, and security. The Sergeant also supervises the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports, and promotes the development of positive social skills by modeling appropriate behaviors and providing feedback to staff. Maintaining accountability of staff, inmates/detainees/USMS, and property, while adhering to safety practices, is crucial. Additional duties may be assigned by the Warden within the employee's capabilities.
