CBC News is looking for experienced digital senior writers to join their team at Canada's leading digital news operation. This role serves audiences on digital, mobile, social, and video news platforms. A key part of this role is quickly and accurately writing daily news stories and for live pages. These are casual, temporary short-term positions, which may include early morning, evening, and weekend shifts, and can be based anywhere in Canada where there is a CBC location. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer with a sharp eye for thoughtful, human-centered stories that reflect and connect with contemporary Canada. They understand digital and social audiences and how to engage them using various media. Experience in a breaking news environment is crucial, along with the ability to thrive under pressure, jump between topics, and learn quickly. A critical thinker with excellent news judgment, the candidate must be comfortable making independent editorial decisions aligned with CBC's Journalistic Standards and Practices (JSP) and the CBC News strategy. This role requires a self-starter who can work collaboratively with minimal supervision and values diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work culture.
