About The Position

EGS is seeking a Senior Work Control Planner to support maintenance, operations, and modification activities at the Savannah River Site. This position is responsible for developing, reviewing, and coordinating complex work packages that support the safe and efficient execution of maintenance, construction, and system modification work within a highly regulated DOE environment. The selected candidate will develop detailed work instructions, maintenance procedures, safety requirements, testing requirements, and lockout/tagout documentation while ensuring compliance with DOE regulations, engineering requirements, quality assurance standards, and site work control procedures. This role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, work management processes, and maintenance planning within nuclear or industrial facilities. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in work control planning, maintenance operations, and computerized work management systems, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, resolve planning challenges, and ensure work packages are technically accurate and ready for execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a non-technical discipline with 4–5 years of practical experience in work control, materials management, E&I, mechanical maintenance, or related fields.
  • Associate's degree in a technical or mechanical discipline with 8 years of practical experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 10–12 years of practical experience in work control, maintenance planning, or related fields.
  • Experience developing and reviewing complex maintenance or modification work packages.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience utilizing computerized work management systems to plan, schedule, and track work activities.
  • Strong understanding of DOE, federal, and state regulations, engineering standards, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of work control procedures, maintenance practices, radiological controls, configuration management, and material control.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and maintenance processes.
  • Knowledge of work hazards, lockout/tagout requirements, operating configurations, and safe work practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and team coordination skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Savannah River Site or DOE facility work planner experience within the past three years.
  • Previous DOE or nuclear facility experience.
  • Active DOE L or Q Clearance within the past two years.
  • Experience supporting maintenance planning within highly regulated nuclear or industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of site-specific work control procedures and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and issue large and complex work packages supporting maintenance, operations, and system modification activities.
  • Prepare detailed step-by-step work instructions, maintenance procedures, testing requirements, and safety documentation.
  • Develop corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance work packages.
  • Analyze labor, material, tooling, and resource requirements to support planned work activities.
  • Resolve work package restraints and support work package closeout activities.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, vendor documentation, and technical specifications to develop accurate work packages.
  • Perform field walkdowns to verify system configuration, identify hazards, and validate work scope.
  • Identify configuration anomalies and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance personnel, planners, supervisors, and facility management.
  • Serve as a lead reviewer for work package quality, consistency, and technical accuracy.
  • Utilize computerized work management systems to develop, track, and maintain work planning activities.
  • Coordinate planning activities between engineering, maintenance, operations, radiological controls, quality assurance, and material management organizations.
  • Prioritize work activities to support operational and maintenance schedules.
  • Interface with site organizations to resolve work planning issues and improve work execution efficiency.
  • Ensure work packages comply with DOE regulations, engineering standards, quality assurance requirements, and site work control procedures.
  • Develop lockout/tagout instructions for mechanical, electrical, radiological, and chemical energy isolation.
  • Support configuration management, radiological controls, and material control requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of work hazards, operating configurations, and safe work practices.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
