About The Position

The Senior Windows Server Engineer will architect and provide expert-level support and strategy for the production Windows server environment. The role maintains proactive performance monitoring, participates in daily support and administration, and supports projects for Windows infrastructure and applications. The engineer is responsible for maintaining Windows servers and supporting a trading environment consisting of Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 systems. The position supports Windows infrastructure across business lines in the Americas Region, contributes to planning and implementation of projects, and works with vendors, internal global teams, and application support teams. It includes proactive monitoring and capacity management, system upgrades and security patching, disaster recovery and business continuity activities, and production incident and problem management. The engineer provides first-, second-, and third-level support and participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation. The assignment duration is 10 months.

Requirements

10 or more years of experience preferred.
Expert knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, including 2022, 2019, 2016, and 2012, and enterprise components and technologies such as domains, DNS, registries, DHCP, and WINS.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft cluster technologies and strategies, including server clustering and network and component load balancing.
Strong knowledge of Active Directory.
Good knowledge of VMware vSphere and associated products such as vCenter and SRM.
Strong knowledge of performance management and capacity planning.
Strong knowledge of SAN/EMC storage, including different SRDF types.
Strong knowledge of installing Windows Server 2022 and later on industry-standard hardware, including HP, IBM, Dell, and blade servers.
Good working knowledge of networking functions, including TCP/IP, SNMP, subnetting, and routing.
Knowledge of relational databases such as Sybase, Oracle, and SQL, and of MQ Series.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Project management and documentation skills.
Service-oriented, positive, committed, and enthusiastic team player.
Must work weekends and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Proficient in English.

Responsibilities

Support a trading environment consisting of Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 systems and participate in planning and implementing new projects.
Proactively monitor the virtual environment for capacity, stress, risk, and workload, and take necessary remediation steps.
Build and support Microsoft Failover Clusters, including stretch clusters.
Maintain the Windows environment in the Americas Region across all business lines.
Interface with vendors and internal global teams to ensure the environment conforms to current standards.
Manage business continuity in relation to disaster recovery.
Maintain high system reliability, availability, and resiliency.
Provide first-, second-, and third-level support for production environments.
Perform proactive system performance monitoring and capacity management using available monitoring tools.
Perform system upgrades and mandatory security and operating system patching.
Work with application support teams to gather requirements, design, and deploy standard systems.
Implement projects for all business lines.
Provide 24/7 on-call support based on a team rotation.
Perform morning checks on critical applications using existing tools or scripts.
Follow company policies and procedures for change and incident management.
Ensure systems are deployed consistently with group standards and best practices.
Take ownership of production incidents and problems and work with the team to resolve them.
Follow group security practices within the environment.
Maintain an accurate and current system inventory.
