About The Position

The Senior Windows Server Admin will provide Sr level Server Administration support in a virtualized environment. This role involves installing OS applications, daily system maintenance, application integration, and upgrades on Windows systems within a VMware virtualized environment. The administrator will collaborate closely with network, application, middleware, UNIX, OpenShift, Backup, and Storage teams to support product installations, customizations, and deployments. Key responsibilities include Active Directory Services administration and management, ensuring high performance for backup and data protection, and supporting disaster recovery operations. The role also involves administration and support of the OpenShift platform and Spectrum Protect (SP) and Spectrum Protect Plus (SPP) platforms. Additionally, the position requires developing and maintaining user and technical documentation, creating administrator and service accounts, tuning system performance, installing enterprise-wide software, monitoring computing resource allocation, and providing support for software updates, upgrades, backup and recovery, performance management, and capacity planning. The administrator will also collect and assess information for software and hardware problem resolution, define and track metrics for team performance, reduce errors through process improvement, produce support documentation, tune server infrastructure performance for high availability, assist in developing configuration management solutions, and utilize performance tools. Strong customer service skills are essential for providing onsite technical support with a focus on listening and resolving issues promptly. Other requirements include experience with GPO creation and maintenance, hands-on experience with VMware ESX, ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, and other virtualization technologies, understanding of enterprise storage technology, and in-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Hyper-V, VMware, IIS, MS SQL, WSUS, and AD Group Policy. A credit history check will be conducted. The role requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including Entra ID and security optimization.
  • Experience implementing cloud security best practices and integrating on-premises systems with Azure services.
  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Certificate Services, DNS, DHCP, and Print Servers.
  • Expertise in domain controller operations, authentication protocols (Kerberos, NTLM), and security configurations.
  • Advanced skills in performance analysis and diagnostic tools for Windows Server environments.
  • Ability to resolve complex infrastructure issues using logs, traces, and network analysis tools.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting, including automation workflows, reporting scripts, and reusable configuration modules.
  • Understanding of enterprise storage technologies, Hyper-V, VMware, IIS, and MS SQL.
  • Experience supporting virtualization and application hosting environments.
  • Proven ability to interface with teams across the enterprise stack: networking, storage, project management, capacity planning, and incident management.
  • Comfortable leading technical discussions and translating complex concepts into clear, actionable language for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience with ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management.
  • Ability to train and guide teams on new and existing processes, including cloud architecture best practices.
  • Highly interpersonal with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Skilled in mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior staff.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or technology related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 7 years experience providing Sr Windows Server administration support and Sr server configuration support.
  • Experience with GPO creation and maintenance.
  • Hands on experience with VMware ESX, ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, and additional virtualization technologies and concepts.
  • Understanding of enterprise storage technology to interface with storage administration group.
  • In depth experience and knowledge of Active Directory, Hyper-V, VMware, IIS, MS SQL, WSUS and AD Group Policy.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one of the following industry certifications preferred: MCSA/MCSE/MCTIP-SA or VMware VCP and similar certifications desired.

Responsibilities

  • Install OS applications, daily system maintenance, applications integration, upgrades on Windows systems in a VMware virtualized environment.
  • Work closely with network, application, and middleware teams to support product installations, customizations, and deployments.
  • Perform Active Directory Services administration and management to include design, cleanup and routine maintenance and configuration.
  • Work closely with UNIX, OpenShift, Backup and Storage teams to support deployments.
  • Provide operations support to ensure high performance backup and data protection, universal availability and simplified management of complex systems and storage networks.
  • Support, implement and maintain backup plans to ensure continuation of critical operations in the event of a disaster or recovery.
  • Operation, configuration, and troubleshooting of organization backup and data replication infrastructure.
  • Provide administration and support of the OpenShift platform.
  • Provide Administration and support of the Spectrum Protect (SP) and Spectrum Protect Plus (SPP) platform.
  • Develop or lead oversight of update, documentation and management of GPOs across.
  • Develop and maintain user and technical documentation.
  • Create administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, and install enterprise wide software.
  • Monitor policies and standards for allocation related to use of computing resources.
  • Provide support including software updates and upgrades, backup and recovery, performance mgmt and capacity planning for the environment.
  • Collects and assesses information from the user community in software and hardware problem resolution.
  • Define and track metrics and key performance indicators to raise the bar in team performance and customer service.
  • Reduce errors working with the other Windows administrators through process improvement and root cause analysis.
  • Produce support documentation on demand.
  • Help tune performance and ensure high availability of server infrastructure.
  • Assist developing and maintaining configuration management solutions.
  • Utilize performance tools to help teams make the most out of the available infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills to provide onsite technical support focusing on strong listening skills to gain accurate understanding of the situation, displaying a sense of urgency to resolve customer issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
