About The Position

The Senior Web Communications Specialist establishes and maintains a strategic, enterprise-level support structure for marketing and communications web projects. The position implements a comprehensive communications program to include website content, website content governance and marketing strategies for the Texas A&M College of Engineering (COE) and Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES). Working within strategic communications, the position ensures that all web content advances enterprise priorities, reflects brand and messaging standards and supports integrated storytelling across the Engineering enterprise. Alongside cross-collaborative teams, this position coordinates and oversees comprehensive plans and uses data to inform future tactics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field.
  • Five years of communications and/or marketing experience.
  • Experience writing for the web with an emphasis on content strategy and optimizing content for search engines (SEO).
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and university accessibility standards.
  • Technical expertise in a variety of online platforms and solutions, including Cascade, WordPress, LiveWhale, Siteimprove, and others closely tied to website strategy.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications principles and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Writes, edits and publishes engaging and cohesive content for the COE and TEES websites.
  • Interprets campaign or project analytics to inform future tactics.
  • Assists with new content creation for major website redesigns managed by Engineering Communications.
  • Reviews requests for new or updated web content to maintain accuracy across all sites.
  • Uses SiteImprove or other similar technologies to audit existing content throughout the websites, ensuring accessibility, reducing redundancy, and eliminating outdated or inaccurate content.
  • Maintains a schedule of key dates for updating specific webpages.
  • Implements SEO and keyword improvements for website content on COE-level pages and the TEES website.
  • Follows the standards set in place by the UI/UX designer to maintain a consistent visual design, standardizing content and infrastructure hierarchy.
  • Organizes web content for maximum impact based on Google Analytics data and Google keyword search tools.
  • Develops and implements a web content governance plan for sites across the Engineering enterprise.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state and university accessibility requirements and ensures compliance.
  • Develops and implements timelines for web content task completion.
  • Communicates governance plans to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Defines and implements overarching strategies to ensure high-quality website content across Texas A&M Engineering while maintaining brand standards.
  • Aligns website content, maintenance and communications strategy to the College of Engineering and TEES strategic plans.
  • Supervises web content student worker.
  • Other duties as assigned.
