About The Position

This is a senior-level operational position designed for an experienced professional with strong technical expertise in both drinking water and wastewater treatment systems. Aquatech Canadian Water Services is a leading provider of operations, maintenance, compliance, and asset management services for water and wastewater infrastructure across Ontario. We specialize in the operation and management of municipal and private water and wastewater systems, ensuring reliable service, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship for the communities and clients we support. We are seeking a versatile operator who can confidently oversee operations, troubleshooting, compliance, maintenance, and optimization activities across a variety of private water and wastewater facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive operational experience in both drinking water and wastewater systems, with senior-level experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and reporting requirements
  • Experience with compliance monitoring, process control, laboratory interpretation, and operational reporting
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting aptitude
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently across a large geographic region while maintaining communication with operations leadership and site staff
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence
  • Valid Ontario Wastewater Operator Certification.
  • Valid Ontario Drinking Water Operator Certification (OIT, LSW, Level I, or higher). LSW and OIT licences are acceptable for the water systems currently operated under this role.

  • Experience operating private communal water and wastewater systems

  • Experience supporting multiple sites across a large geographic territory
  • Leadership, mentoring, supervisory, or lead operator experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior operational oversight for water treatment, distribution, wastewater treatment, and collection systems across Southwestern Ontario operations
  • Support and guide less experienced operators through technical direction, mentorship, site checks, and operational follow-up
  • Monitor treatment processes and make operational adjustments to optimize performance
  • Travel to sites across the region as required to inspect facilities, verify operating conditions, troubleshoot issues, and support field staff
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process issues
  • Complete operational records and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Monitor and respond to SCADA alarms and notifications
  • Participate in on-call coverage and emergency response activities
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior operators
  • Provide operational support to other Aquatech operating areas when required and where practical based on geography and business needs
