About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking a Senior Project Manager for water and wastewater infrastructure projects to join our Atlanta, Augusta, or Savannah, GA team. This individual will serve as project manager and/or technical lead on municipal drinking and wastewater projects. The role involves foundational builds on extensive technical foundations with the expectation to make significant contributions to team efforts for the benefit of the client. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to evaluate, select, and apply standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks for conventional projects with few complex features. They should understand the technical requirements needed in the design of a project and how various disciplines are integrated to meet client needs. This is an independent performer on most assignments, expected to lead multidisciplinary teams to provide studies, planning, and design services for water/wastewater utilities. The role also includes providing technical design for water/wastewater treatment projects and technical support to the design team to ensure efficiency, quality, and performance. Key activities include delivering engineering calculations, project coordination, writing engineering specifications, establishing appropriate design methods, report preparation and coordination, and equipment sizing and selection while working directly with clients. The position drives profitability and client satisfaction through quality work and on-time/on-budget delivery. Coordination with leadership on staffing and workload is essential, as is conducting QA/QC of all documents and reports, verifying accuracy of data, information, and calculations. The role involves preparing and overseeing detailed construction document packages and providing technical leadership for all deliverables. Support for marketing efforts through client engagement, responsiveness, and strong project delivery is also expected, including assisting with proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in water and/or wastewater engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required (Georgia or ability/plan to obtain).
  • Strong technical background in municipal water/wastewater systems.
  • Working knowledge of technical specifications and design standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Active involvement in professional and industry organizations.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree, BCEE, PMP, or LEED AP certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager and/or technical lead on municipal drinking and wastewater projects.

  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work.
  • Work with multiple individuals in a team environment.
  • Coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, surveyors and administrative staff.
  • Contribute to Client Services team.
  • Represent the firm in all aspects of projects and assignments to prospective employees, clients, and the communities we serve.

  • Respond to common inquiries from contractors, surveyors, survey field personnel, city code enforcement or regulatory agencies.

  • Assist with developing standards and guidelines.

  • Perform tasks in support of Staff Professionals and Engineer Interns.
  • Perform more advanced drafting tasks.

  • Train and mentor other CADD / Revit technicians.
  • Collaboratively use judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.
  • Actively participate in local professional society.
  • Participate in community service activities and understand implications of involvement.
