About The Position

Mead & Hunt is seeking a senior structural engineer to serve as a technical leader within our dams, hydropower, and water resources team. This role involves leading the design of hydraulic structures and other structural engineering projects, managing project scope, schedule, and budget, and overseeing the preparation of design documents. The position also requires performing condition assessments of existing structures, conducting field inspections, supporting construction administration, mentoring junior team members, and managing client relationships. Requirements

A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil or structural engineering, or architectural engineering (with an emphasis on structures) from an ABET accredited college or university
At least eight (8) years of relevant structural engineering work experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state with the ability to obtain a license in California within twelve (12) months of being hired.

Knowledge of California Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 350, and AISC 360.
Experience with Army Corps of Engineers Engineering Manuals related to hydraulic structures and FERC Engineering Guidelines.
Experience with seismic evaluations and earthquake resistant designs.
Experience with structural engineering software programs including finite element analysis and CAD programs such as RISA 3D, SAP2000, and AutoCAD.
Mentoring experience.
A Structural Engineer (SE) license.

Responsibilities

Leading the design of hydraulic structures and other structural engineering projects, including projects related to dams, spillways, canals, pump stations, valve houses, and other hydraulic structures.
Serving as a project manager responsible for scope, schedule and budget.
Overseeing the preparation of plans, calculations, specifications, and other design documents for bidding and construction.
Serving as an engineer in responsible charge of reviewing, approving, and applying professional engineering seals to final plans, specifications, and reports.
Performing condition assessments of existing structures.
Evaluating and analyzing existing structures.
Conducting field inspections of project sites to assess existing conditions.
Supporting construction administration for projects in construction.
Mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced team members.
Providing QA/QC.
Client management.
Attending day and night client meetings as necessary.
Conducting necessary travel.
