About The Position

As part of HDR’s Water Business Group, the Senior Wastewater Engineer will help communities manage water by supporting wastewater treatment, sustainable water supplies, public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience. The role involves leading and contributing to wastewater infrastructure planning and design, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality work for clients. The engineer may also serve as a project manager on water and wastewater projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
• At least 10 years of experience with municipal water and wastewater systems planning and design.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng license.
• Strong technical background and experience designing water distribution systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and hydraulic modeling software.
• Project engineering and project management experience.
• Commitment to actively participate in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• 15 years of experience in wastewater systems planning and design.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Local candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently create detailed designs, plans, specifications, and estimates for pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, tanks, and other wastewater systems.
• Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams working from separate locations to produce high-quality deliverables.
• Guide the planning and execution of complex multidisciplinary studies, simulations, and plans for wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Take responsibility for engineering and process design, project coordination, engineering specifications, work planning, design methods, report preparation and coordination, and equipment sizing and selection.
• Work directly with clients to provide an outstanding delivery experience.
• Establish quality standards and value-engineering solutions.
• Conduct quality-control reviews of completed designs.
• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in wastewater systems.
• Serve as a project manager on water and wastewater projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
