About The Position

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Senior VLSI ASIC Logic Design Engineer to design, analyze, develop, modify, and evaluate VLSI components and hardware systems. The work includes determining architecture and logic design, developing software for component and system simulation, and creating physical implementations involving complex integrated-circuit layouts. The role analyzes designs, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results to support prototype and production VLSI solutions. This senior technical role provides subject-matter expertise and technical leadership for complex VLSI products, solutions, and platforms. The engineer leads project teams and internal and outsourced development partners across design, validation, and testing; reviews designs for compliance with technology and development standards; and contributes architecture and platform leadership to cross-organizational projects. The role also mentors less-experienced staff and drives the integration of new technologies into design projects. The position is hybrid, with an average of two days per week working from an HPE office. The expected annual base salary range is $147,000–$279,000 in Colorado and $140,000–$321,000 in Minnesota, Texas, and Wisconsin. Variable incentives may also be offered. Actual offers may vary by location, experience, education, training, and skill level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 6–10 years of experience in VLSI design, verification, or implementation.
  • Expert-level proficiency in electrical engineering fundamentals, VLSI principles, digital logic, and computer architecture.
  • Expert-level analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert-level knowledge of designing VLSI components, integrated circuitry, architectures, and algorithms into VLSI solutions.
  • Expert-level knowledge of programming and scripting, hardware description languages, electronic design automation (EDA), and/or FPGA tools.
  • Coursework in VLSI design or VLSI concepts.
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills, with mastery of English and the local language.
  • Subject-matter expertise or discipline leadership evidenced by patents or publications in VLSI or electronic/hardware component designs and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and lead VLSI engineering project teams and internal and outsourced development partners across design, validation, and testing for complex products, solutions, and platforms.
  • Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with VLSI technology and development guidelines and standards, and provide feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provide VLSI-specific technical expertise, overall architecture design, and platform leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
  • Lead project teams in developing reliable, cost-effective, high-quality VLSI prototype and product solutions.
  • Guide and mentor less-experienced staff, setting an example of VLSI design and development innovation and excellence.
  • Participate in and provide input on processes for selecting future technical leaders.
  • Drive VLSI innovation and integration of new technologies into design organization projects and activities.
  • Design, analyze, develop, modify, and evaluate VLSI components and hardware systems; determine architecture and logic design; and support simulation, physical implementation, testing, and evaluation of prototype and production solutions.
