About The Position

The Senior Vice President, Personal Lending is accountable for the overall strategy, growth, profitability, and performance of EQ Bank’s Personal Lending business, with full P&L ownership and end-to-end accountability for product performance, portfolio growth, and customer outcomes. The role oversees product strategy, product development, distribution, and business performance management across the Personal Lending portfolio. As a key member of the Personal Banking Leadership Team, the incumbent is responsible for driving sustainable growth in existing lending products while identifying, developing, and launching new lending solutions beyond traditional mortgage offerings. This includes expanding EQ Bank’s lending portfolio through innovative products, new customer segments, and adjacent lending opportunities that support long-term growth and diversification. Working closely with Product, Sales, Credit, Risk, Operations, Finance, and Technology leaders, the role ensures the successful delivery of market-leading solutions, exceptional customer experiences, and profitable business growth.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience within financial services, banking, mortgage lending, or consumer lending environments.
  • 10+ years of executive leadership experience managing large-scale lending, sales, underwriting, operations, or portfolio management functions.
  • 10+ years of people leadership experience leading senior leaders and large organizational teams.
  • Master's degree (MBA or equivalent).
  • Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, FRM, or equivalent.
  • Executive leadership development certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of residential mortgage lending, underwriting, servicing, and portfolio management.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking regulations and regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of credit risk management principles and practices.
  • Advanced financial acumen and business management capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of sales management and distribution channel strategy.
  • Advanced knowledge of lending operations and process optimization.
  • Advanced knowledge of modern and emerging lending-specific technology and applications including AI and agentic-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision and long-term growth agenda for the Personal Lending business.
  • Own business performance including portfolio growth, margin optimization, market share, productivity, customer outcomes, and profitability.
  • Identify emerging market trends, competitive threats, and growth opportunities and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic recommendations to the EVP, Personal Banking and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead the national mortgage sales strategy and broker channel performance.
  • Establish sales objectives, performance metrics, and growth plans aligned to business objectives.
  • Strengthen relationships with mortgage brokers, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Drive market share growth through effective sales execution and distribution channel optimization.
  • Provide executive leadership to the SFR Credit function.
  • Partner with Enterprise Risk Management to ensure lending growth remains aligned with approved risk appetite.
  • Oversee lending policy effectiveness, portfolio quality trends, and credit performance.
  • Ensure appropriate governance, controls, and escalation frameworks are maintained across the lending business.
  • Lead the Personal Lending product strategy including the development, business casing, and launch of new products that complement the current portfolio and enhance the client experience aligned to our long term strategy.
  • Oversee product design, pricing strategy, value proposition development, and lifecycle management.
  • Identify market opportunities and emerging customer needs to support future product innovation.
  • Ensure product decisions balance growth, profitability, customer experience, and risk considerations.
  • Oversee mortgage fulfilment, servicing and operational support functions.
  • Sponsor initiatives focused on operational effectiveness, technology enablement, automation, and process improvement.
  • Monitor business performance.
  • Adjust strategies to meet changing market condition.
  • Lead enterprise lending initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Drive business planning, forecasting, portfolio optimization, and transformation programs.
