About The Position

Gearbox Studio Québec is looking for a Senior Vegetation Artist to join their team in Quebec. This role involves creating high-quality vegetation models and textures, including terrain textures (Biome), and ensuring these assets support gameplay objectives and meet artistic style targets. The artist will collaborate with design and technical art teams to understand and establish production processes within technical constraints. Responsibilities include creating base geometry, applying materials, adding detail, and participating in the development of procedural systems for vegetation application across the game.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a 3D Artist in the video game industry.
  • Shipped at least 2 multiplatform titles.
  • In-depth knowledge of the techniques and processes involved in creating a video game.
  • Expert in 3DS Max and/or other equivalent 3D software.
  • In-depth knowledge of SpeedTree.
  • In-depth knowledge of Substance Designer/Painter, Photoshop, and ZBrush.
  • Good communication skills in French and English.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, proactive, and team-oriented attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UE4/UE5.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality vegetation models and textures, including terrain textures (Biome).
  • Work with the design team to ensure models support gameplay objectives.
  • Meet style and quality targets established by the Art Director.
  • Collaborate closely with the Technical Art Director and Lead Artist to understand and, if necessary, establish production processes that consider the technical constraints of the game.
  • Create base geometry, apply materials, and add detail to various elements.
  • Participate in the development of procedural systems used to apply vegetation across the entire game.
