About The Position

The Senior Virtual Design Construction Specialist provides routine Building Information Modeling (BIM) administration and coordination to assigned projects. The role provides models and documents, delivers BIM technical support, and assembles 3D content modeled by others, in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. The specialist makes decisions on non-routine matters, recommends actions to a supervisor, and refers exceptions to the supervisor. The stated career path is VDC Manager. The role independently conducts and maintains efficient VDC processes, supports project teams with BIM tools and project documentation, and communicates project constraints to help minimize impacts. It also provides training to project teams and gains exposure to cross-functional workflows, owner requirements, BIM execution plans, complex VDC delivery strategies, field layout, and self-perform VDC processes. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a construction-related field, and at least two years of construction or related experience and two years of BIM-related experience are required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement. The position may involve travel, non-traditional working hours, work at project sites and/or in an office, exposure to hot or cold conditions, and physical activities including lifting up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a construction-related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
At least 2 years of construction or related experience.
At least 2 years of BIM-related experience.
Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to conduct effective presentations.
Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.
Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.
Ability to quickly and effectively solve complex problems.
Ability to lead project teams through VDC processes.
Ability to set up and establish project-specific VDC technology to support project delivery strategy at an intermediate level.
Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.
Knowledge of BIM technologies and their application to VDC processes and the AEC industry.
Ability to apply JE Dunn VDC/BIM processes and standards.
Ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external teams.
Intermediate knowledge of Autodesk BIM 360 Glue, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Design Collaboration, Autodesk Revit (Architecture, Structure, and MEP), Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Navisworks Manage including JE Dunn clash workflow and program, Trimble SketchUp, Bluebeam, and JE Dunn Enterprise Mobile Solution.
Knowledge of the laser scanning process.
For self-perform VDC-focused work, intermediate knowledge of Trimble Tekla Structures and Trimble Field Layout Solutions.

Responsibilities

Provides models and documents needed to complete project scope, as determined with VDC/BIM leadership and project teams.
Assembles 3D content modeled by others and models content that has not been provided.
Learns, maintains, and independently conducts productive and efficient BIM/VDC processes.
Creates and maintains project documentation, including meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and constraint logs.
Supports operations with the RFI process for BIM-related items.
Maintains working relationships with subcontractors and project teams.
Learns and applies VDC processes and standards to assigned projects.
Reads and interprets construction documents and project BIM requirements, applying them to VDC processes.
Incorporates design updates into project models.
Analyzes construction documents and models for errors and omissions and makes corrections as needed.
Supports operations with self-perform model management and layout.
Provides BIM technical support to internal project teams.
Communicates VDC-related project constraints to the supervisor and project teams in a timely manner.
Provides training to project teams on the use of BIM tools.
Gains exposure to cross-functional workflows and processes, owner requirements, BIM execution plans, front-end scopes of work, complex VDC delivery strategies, field layout, and self-perform VDC processes.
