About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a Senior Vascular Lab Technologist- Medical Sonographer for a Full Time, Day shift position in Harrisonburg, VA. The Senior Vascular Lab Technologist- Medical Sonographer assists leadership with daily operations, coordination of work, quality and service, achievement of operating center goals and objectives, customer satisfaction and in meeting regulatory requirements through providing technical expertise within assigned area. Serves as a technical resource for other team members through participation in quality control and improvement/evaluation activities, staff development activities, and daily support to team members. Assists leadership with facilitating and monitoring the work processes of the department. Performs diagnostic, vascular, and/or interventional ultrasound procedures at a technical level requiring independent judgment, under the direction of a qualified physician. Performs non-invasive vascular testing procedures and may write preliminary interpretations depending on the facility. The Sentara RMH Medical Center echocardiography and vascular lab is considered high volume with close to 9,500 procedures performed annually. The lab works closely with our invasive cardiology (structural heart, electrophysiology, diagnostic/interventional cath) and cardiothoracic surgery services. Each Team member is expected to perform about 7 exams per day. Preliminary reports are generated in ProSolv (Structured Report SW Application). Clinical equipment include state of the art Philips Epic ultrasound systems and EPIC (electronic medical record). Both inpatient and outpatient echo services are located on the Sentara RMH Medical Center main campus within the non-invasive cardiology lab.

Requirements

  • Degree in Radiologic Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography and, or Vascular Technology required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, (ARRT) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) required
  • BLS required
  • 1 year of experience required
  • Communication with patients and providers required

  • Provide accurate diagnostic information.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards.
