Senior, UX/UI Engineer

TaxRiseIrvine, CA
$150,000 - $175,000Onsite

About The Position

As our Senior UX/UI Engineer, you'll own the design, architecture, and ongoing development of TaxRise's client facing web application, the platform our clients rely on throughout their entire tax resolution journey. Reporting to our Chief Data Officer, you'll be the primary technical driver behind the application's front end, responsible for the decisions that shape how it's built, how it scales, and how it performs in production. You'll work hands-on across the full product lifecycle, from wireframes and prototypes in Figma to production ready components built in React and TypeScript. You'll partner closely with our data team to understand system constraints and data structures, and you'll have a direct voice in what gets built next, not just how it gets built. This is a senior, high ownership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of design and engineering and wants their decisions to directly shape how thousands of clients experience TaxRise. This role is based onsite in Irvine, CA.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, front end development, or a hybrid role
  • Experience with modern Next.js architecture, including the App Router, server and client components, route handlers, middleware, caching, and rendering strategies.
  • Experience implementing authentication and role-based access in applications handling sensitive user data.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a production web application, not just contributing features to one
  • Strong hands on experience with React, TypeScript, and Next.js
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto layout, and prototyping
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries
  • Solid understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and responsive design
  • Experience consuming REST APIs and working with real time or asynchronous data
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and component or end to end testing tools such as Jest, Playwright.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally with data, product, and engineering teams
