About The Position

This skilled position oversees maintenance of the George T. Lohmeyer Waste Water Treatment Plant and performs repair, maintenance, and cleaning work involving water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure and related systems. The role operates and maintains equipment, machinery, and tools; performs minor building and plant-system repairs; and may carry out construction-related duties. The employee must obtain a Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsement within one year of hire if not already held. The position includes stand-by duty and may involve nights, weekends, emergency response, and work immediately before, during, or after emergencies.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or foreign education equivalent.
At least two years of experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of water, sewer, and stormwater conveyance systems and roadways, or related commercial/industrial maintenance and/or janitorial work.
Possess, or obtain within one year from hire date, a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or higher with Air Brakes and Tanker Endorsement.
Must be available to perform stand-by duty and respond to off-duty emergency call-ins.
Must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by department heads, including immediately before, during, and/or after emergencies.
May be required to work nights and weekends.
Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, and climb ladders up to 10 feet.
Ability to work in inclement weather and tolerate exposure to potable water, groundwater, stormwater, and sewage.

Responsibilities

Oversee maintenance of the George T. Lohmeyer Waste Water Treatment Plant.
Perform skilled repair and maintenance of water, wastewater, and stormwater system infrastructure.
Clean city-owned wastewater plant infrastructure, industrial buildings, and process areas.
Perform minor building and plant-system repairs and minor painting.
Operate a Vac-Truck to clean center rings and clarifiers, clear lateral lines, and perform soft digging.
Maintain scum stations, sanitary stations, dump stations, and odor control systems.
Enter confined spaces as required.
Perform brush clearing and trimming.
Operate a skid steer and maintain and repair applicable equipment, machinery, and tools.
Change air-conditioning filters and maintain inventory.
Perform assigned construction-related work, including carpentry, masonry, concrete laying, excavation, site restoration, tiling, and asphalt patching.
Perform Utilities Serviceworker functions as needed and keep work areas clean by removing debris.
Estimate material needs and procure materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
Read and use drawings and maps, and use digital handheld tools and asset-management systems.
Perform stand-by duty and respond to off-duty emergency call-ins to effect repairs.
Comply with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
Perform related work as required.
