About The Position

We are looking for a Senior User Experience Researcher with strong quantitative and mixed-methods research expertise to help shape and optimize the digital banking experience. In this role, you will lead end-to-end research initiatives, leveraging experimentation, analytics, behavioral analysis, and causal inference to uncover customer insights and drive product decisions. Partnering closely with product, design, and engineering teams, you'll translate complex business and user questions into actionable research, influence strategic outcomes, and champion a user-centered approach across the organization. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, communicates insights effectively to stakeholders, and turns product questions into clear hypotheses, success metrics, well-designed studies, and actionable insights.

Requirements

  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how new consumer and business customers approach search, evaluation, and selection of a banking solution.
  • Strategically negotiate design solutions in relation to business goals.
  • Help organizations through a better understanding of the customer use preferences and needs by analyzing “Voice of the Customer”.
  • Design and facilitate research programs, analyze data to deliver unique insights.
  • Connect research questions and insights that bring out intuitive designs and support strategy and product development.
  • Collaborate with Design, Marketing, Product and Technology stakeholders both inside and outside of the team.
  • Define and execute a comprehensive research plan.
  • Identify best method or mix of quantitative and qualitative methods based on priorities, research questions, timeline, and resourcing.
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs and online experiments.
  • Identify and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research and help advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations.
  • Develop budgets and timelines for research projects.
  • Present findings to designers, developers, and other stakeholders and conclude on the action plan.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Provide specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
