About The Position

This is a unique opportunity to sit at the heart of Swiss Re's international insurance operations, supporting Property Underwriters and Client Managers with both administrative and technical expertise. As a Senior Underwriting Operations Associate, you'll process assignments with precision and timeliness, coordinate across global teams, and become a trusted subject matter expert in international business processes, tools, and systems. Your contributions will have a direct and meaningful impact on productivity, process efficiency, and the overall quality of the underwriting experience. Our International Operations Business Services team is critical to the underwriting process and sits at the intersection of global coordination and local execution. We support Regions outside of North America that need to place local coverage, as well as North America teams that need to place coverage internationally — making our work truly global in scope and impact. We are a highly collaborative team with strong connections across underwriting, on-shore and off-shore support functions, and key partners in Products, Finance, and Claims. Requirements

  • Experience in business operations or insurance — a minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience in Business Operations within insurance, or a related field, with a solid understanding of operational workflows and industry practices
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency — advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook, with the ability to leverage these tools effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Data analysis and process evaluation skills — demonstrated ability to accurately and efficiently analyze data, review detailed information, evaluate options, and implement solutions following established processes and procedures
  • 4-year degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field (Associate's degree or equivalent experience is required)

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage underwriting assignments accurately and on time, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance at every step
  • Coordinate closely with underwriting teams, on-shore and off-shore support, and cross-functional partners including Products, Finance, and Claims to drive seamless operations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Underwriters and Brokers via telephone, email, and in-person interactions, delivering exceptional, top-notch service at every touchpoint
  • Conduct preliminary deal analysis and prepare detailed account data for review by Underwriters and Client Managers, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Review and interpret complex source documents from external customers, determine appropriate next steps, and compose clear, professional business correspondence
  • Generate and verify predefined business reports, maintaining a high level of competency across complex systems, tools, and processes
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues and outstanding items, following up with Underwriters and stakeholders to keep workflows on track
  • Lead and contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying system and process enhancement opportunities and participating in testing and piloting of changes
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, collaborating with team members to ensure documentation is current, accurate, and accessible
  • Act as a subject matter expert and coach for International Business processes, tools, and systems — answering questions, providing direction, and supporting the development of colleagues
  • Participate in special projects, meetings, seminars, and training programs to continuously build skills and stay current with international regulations and industry developments
  • Adhere to established performance standards and metrics applicable to the supported business divisions, contributing to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
