The Senior Underwriting Consultant will provide leadership across specialty underwriting initiatives, ensuring pricing discipline and risk assessments are aligned with deal complexity and overall business objectives. This individual will work with various teams and provide strategic guidance to organizational leaders through financial modeling to support large and complex deals. The Senior Underwriting Consultant will also collaborate with senior management in the development and execution of underwriting policy and broader business initiatives. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of financial modeling and analytics
  • 3+ years of experience with underwriting
  • 2+ years of experience interacting and presenting in a client or executive level setting
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Lead our efforts to strategically price profitable new business and retain current clients within the specialty drug space
  • Provide a knowledgeable leadership presence in sales and client interactions to drive positive economic outcomes for all parties
  • Diagnose and resolve complex client challenges by delivering solutions that meet client needs while driving sustainable economic value for the business
  • Leverage business knowledge to propose solutions to business challenges regularly in a dynamic work environment
  • Lead the development of financial models to assist in the economic analysis of market alternatives
  • Actively support New Business and Renewal RFPs by applying deep expertise in OptumRx solutions and specialty underwriting principles
  • Evaluate and recommend alternative strategies based on economic analyses and trends
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Proposals teams to project pricing and profit for a range of services and products the company offers
