About The Position
The Senior Underwriter will utilize expert knowledge of Originations and Underwriting to support the team. This role requires expert knowledge in Originations Policies and SOPs, how to utilize and find documentation, Lending Compliance Laws and Regulations (e.g., ECOA, FCRA, TILA Reg.Z), and credit bureau information from TransUnion and Experian.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge of Originations and Underwriting.
- Expert knowledge in Underwriter role and Originations Process/Policies.
- Expert knowledge in Originations Policies and SOPs.
- Expert knowledge on how to utilize and find documentation.
- Expert knowledge in Lending Compliance Laws and Regulations (e.g., ECOA, FCRA, TILA Reg.Z).
- Expert knowledge of TransUnion and Experian credit bureaus information.
- Pass all required Policy Exams.
- Pass most recent Training Compliance Audits for the last X applications reviewed.
- Pass most recent Training Decision Audits for the last X applications reviewed.
- Pass most recent Lending Policy Audits for the last X applications reviewed.
- Meet or exceed Key Performance Indicator metrics for Underwriter for X Months.
Responsibilities
- Comply with lending laws/regulations (e.g., ECOA, FCRA, TILA Reg.Z).
- Adhere to all company, department, and Origination’s Lending policies.
- Escalate Policy and SOP questions using the Escalation Process to ensure alignment.
- Underwrite and decision Credit Applications efficiently and accurately.
- Work as many applications as possible per day to progress towards personal role advancement.
- Make detailed decision notes (link to SOP) on every application and save them in Norman.
- Come prepared and participate actively in all meetings and/or forums.
- Review submitted income on owned applications.
- Take phone calls on owned applications.
- Monitor personal Underwriting KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
- Build and deliver personal weekly key performance indicators recaps for management.
- Review income on any applications.
- Handle funding escalations on any applications.
- Handle decision escalations on any applications.
- Work with Management to support department’s Projects and Programs (e.g., training, audits, reports).
